Justinian II. - First Reign, 685-695 AD. Semissis, 2.14g (12h). Constantinople. Obv: [IiS C]RISTOS REX - REJNANTIVM Bust of Christ facing, with cross behind head; he has long hair and a full beard, wears pallium and colobium, and raises his right hand in benediction, while holding book of Gospels in left. Rx: D IVST[INIA]NV - S SERV ChRISTI Justinian standing facing, wearing crown and loros, holding cross potent and akakia. Sear 1252. DO 10. MIB 12. Flat strike on obverse rim from 7h to 9h. The type is exceedingly rare in the semissis denomination. EF
